When Howard Newman invented the AlertSeat™, it was students like the ones
at the Jesse J. Kaplan School in West Nyack, New York who were foremost in
his mind.
The Kaplan School focuses exclusively on students with autism, intellectual disabilities, medical fragility, and multiple disabilities, many of them severe.
Located in Rockland County on the west side of the Hudson River just north of
New York City, Kaplan draws its 260 students, ages 5 to 21, from there and from nearby New York counties of Westchester, Putnam and Orange, and Bergen
County, New Jersey.
Some even travel up from the Bronx and Manhattan to take advantage of a
unique learning environment that blends education and therapies designed to
help students to reach their potential. It is the only facility of its type in the
region it serves.
